Chiropractic Treatment for Low Back Pain With a Gonstead Practitioner

Low back pain is an unwelcome thing to suffer from, yet many suffer from it constantly. However, the Gonstead Technique can help you kick pain out of your life. Dr. Bart and the team at Pinnacle Chiropractic of Sandy Springs share how below.

What Is the Gonstead Technique, and Why Is It Effective for Low Back Pain?

The Gonstead Technique is one that focuses on providing very precise treatment to the location of the injury. It avoids applying random adjustments to the spine and instead ensures that any methods used effectively correct the actual issue causing pain.

If you’ve lived with low back pain for any length of time, you've likely tried many methods to gain relief. And if so, you've probably been disappointed that you're still walking around with that pain. The Gonstead Technique is effective even in such cases as the precision gets directly to the root of the problem while many other methods provide a more generalized approach.

How Is the Gonstead Technique Performed?

Low back pain can come in various forms. It can be a dull ache, a sharp shooting pain, a stabbing pain, a burning sensation, and tingling. Often, the type of pain you feel can tell your chiropractor what is going on, as they can all mean different things.

That’s why one of the first steps is to determine what type of pain you’re feeling and where that pain seems to be coming from. We say “seems to come from” because pain can sometimes show up outside the injured area. For example, if you’ve damaged a nerve in the lower back, it can create symptoms in the leg. Therefore, the injury isn’t always at the site of the pain, but the location of the pain can give an understanding of where the injury might be.

Diagnostic tools can be used to pinpoint the exact location of the injury. Sometimes this is done with methods like an X-ray. Sometimes, the body temperature can be scanned, as injured sites tend to give off heat. Only after the injured site has been identified will adjustments and other techniques be performed to that specific location.
